Lucrative Burnely FC

Welcome to the clarets fan blog. Daniel Harris is a Burnley Football Club superfan. Get involved by showing love on my channel and following my posts about Burnley FC. While we wait for the coronavirus pandemic to ease, Burnley chairman Mike Garlick insists “The future is extremely bright for all of us” at the club after recording a net profit of £4.3 million for the financial year ending June 2019.

According to recent stats, the 2018-19 campaign was a third successive season in which Burnley FC showed a profit, after tax. However, the figure was down from the record £36 million from the year before. That was due largely to a higher net spend on new players of approximately £20 million compared to the previous year, where profitability was boosted considerably by the sales of Andre Gray and Michael Keane, the club said in a statement.

Chairman Mike Garlick said: “In the second half of the season we also invested heavily in our recruitment and scouting set-up, more than tripling the number of full-time staff. We are confident that this increased investment will slowly but surely develop our ability to identify and sign players that can improve our first-team squad, while at the same time helping to maintain our financial sustainability as a club for generations to come.”

Garlick added: “The future is extremely bright for all of us, although in the short term we know we all face unique challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. Issuing the club accounts is a legal requirement but our immediate thoughts are with those dealing with the effects of the current ongoing situation. Check out the chairman, Mike Garlick Burnley in his interview where he talks about the club.

“We are working closely with the Premier League and the relevant authorities regarding footballing matters, while off the field making sure the club continues to operate effectively and all staff, family and fans stay as safe and healthy and well supported as possible.

“We also urge you to follow all Government guidelines in trying to restrict the spread of the virus and by doing so look forward to the day when we can all meet again at Turf Moor and celebrate playing football in a safe environment.”

Burnley FC News

Here is a new blog from Daniel Harris, a Burnley Football Club superfan. Burnley chairman Mike Garlick has vowed to keep all the club’s staff on full pay for the foreseeable future. Speaking to presenter, and Burnley fan, Tony Livesey on BBC 5 Live, Garlick was asked about a number of Premier League clubs making the decision to furlough staff and use the Government’s job retention scheme and Garlick said, as regards the prospect of some being furloughed: “It is a conversation certainly we have had over the last week or so.We have taken the decision, short to medium term, that ourselves as a club, will fund non-playing staff going forward. We will not be furloughing them.”

Garlick did caveat the club stance given that the coronavirus pandemic is not a predictable situation but in the short to medium term the Clarets will continue to pay staff. More about the team and their chairman Mike Garlick Burnley here.

“Now, if we got to say July and the season hadn’t re-started and the next season isn’t looking as if it is going to start, that is a different position and we might have to revisit it then. But at the moment we are going to be funding that ourselves and are not going to be furloughing.” Garlick added.

Mike Garlick: Ten Years on for Chairman

Welcome to the Mike Garlick blog. Chairman Mike Garlick believes Burnley FC added the quality they needed in the summer transfer market to help them compete in the Premier League. Burnley twice broke their transfer record in the summer to sign midfielders Steven Defour and Jeff Hendrick, as well as bringing in Iceland international Johann Berg Gudmundsson and goalkeeping prospect Nick Pope from Charlton Athletic. Mike Garlick explained that the target come January will again be to end the window stronger than when it opens, but warned not to expect any instant business.

“It’s all about quality not quantity. But for all the fans, don’t expect any signings at one minute past midnight on 1 January, because they’re not going to happen, so please be patient.” Chairman Mike Garlick said.

Mike Garlick: The Burnley Miracle

Welcome to Mike Garlick blog. Get off the train at Burnley’s Manchester Road station on a matchday. You’ll be carried along with the crowds, up the ramp, and then take a left. Go downhill past the Weavers’ Triangle visitor centre and, at the next junction, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Vogue nightclub currently embroiled in an unlikely legal dispute with some old magazine of the same name in America.

Once you get to the heavily reconstructed square in front of the Charter Walk Shopping Centre, hang a right. Negotiate the roundabout at Yorkshire Street and you’re now going towards Harry Potts way. To your right will be the Turf Hotel. To your left will be the KSC 110 club. A little further up on the other side of the road is the Park View Inn. You’ll see some home fans drinking a pre-match pint and having a bite to eat. And you’ll see the big claret advertising board telling you which opposition is coming to town.

Today the sign says “Burnley v Arsenal”. Light-years apart in revenues but right now in the Premier League, equals. Twenty-two points each. This is Turf Moor; home of Burnley FC since 1883. It could probably do with a few more seats someday soon to increase its capacity from around 21,000. But Burnley’s Mike Garlick have priorities and right now expanding the stadium isn’t one of them. This club is more concerned with planting its feet firmly on Premier League terrain.

That in itself is a remarkable ambition for a club of this stature in a town of this size. This is not a natural Premier League landscape; miles and miles from London’s bright lights and stratospheric salaries. What is even more remarkable is that this middling-sized town of a little more than 70,000 people is currently home to the seventh-best football team in the country.

About one in three of those locals make it here to Turf Moor on a matchday; it’s the best population-to-attendance ratio in England. This is a proudly local club; there is something homely about Burnley and something stoic in the relative lack of Manchester United or Arsenal shirts – visiting fans notwithstanding – around the town.

And Burnley’s chairman is a local man. Mike Garlick was raised in the town, only a few hundred yards from Turf Moor. The manager is Sean Dyche. Together they make up the only English owner-manager combination in this multi-national and world-famous Premier League.

“What is unique about it is that every one of the directors were brought up in or around Burnley and are fans,” says Tim Quelch – author of From Orient to the Emirates – the Plucky Rise of Burnley FC. They spent their youth following the club up and down the country.

“That is reflected in the whole ethos of the club. It’s community-owned; there’s that feeling that everybody has got a stake in it. Everybody that I speak to is very suspicious about a foreign owner coming in and splashing the cash and that ethos might be lost.”

Mike Garlick: Clarets Scoop Lancashire Business Award

Burnley Football Club has been named as the Best Customer Focused Business in Lancashire at the Lancashire Business Awards. The award, which was voted for by both corporate clients of the club and a judging panel, was received at a glittering ceremony at Dunkenhalgh Hotel on Thursday night. And having accepted the award for his team, Director of Commerical Affairs Anthony Fairclough dedicated it to the supporters of the club.

He said: “I am proud to receive the award on behalf of my commercial team, who always go the extra mile for our corporate clients. In the Premier League it is a challenge from a corporate perspective, because of the influx of Premier League interest as opposed to Burnley FC interest and we always made the priority to cater first for the customers who had supported us in the non-Premier League years.

“I’d like to thank all our supporters and woud like to dedicate this award to them, for sticking by the Club through the lows and now they are, quite rightly, enjoying the highs.” More about the team and their chairman Mike Garlic.
